Exact RG yields cMERA

Abstract: We study the exact renormalization group (ERG) of the free O(N) vector model using a generalized smooth regulator that modifies the dispersion relation and suppresses the ultraviolet modes. We show that the ERG flow for the wave-functionals leads to a unitary flow that includes, as a special case, the continuous multi-scale renormalization (cMERA) network. We discuss tensor network renormalization and the approximate quantum error correction code in RG.
